Hello and Welcome to:-
Abergavenny Petanque Club
Home Page
Our home terrain is situated in Abergavenny's main public park, Bailey Park, and has space for 16 pistes, which can be separated in various ways.
The terrain which was upgraded in 2023 with new Chippings and the replacement of the Edging Boards to the Southeast elevation, is well used all year round, particularly on club days and during summer league competitions where "open terrain" is used.
It is perhaps one of the best Pétanque terrains in Wales with further facilities available in the adjoining pavilion.
We have weekly open practice afternoons when all are welcome to come along and have a go and once a month we hold a 3 game club melee competition.
We also have 3 teams playing in the Boules In Gwent (B.I.G.) League, and over the years we hosted many Welsh Qualifying Competitions and a number of our members have played for Wales in international competitions.
The Club has 5, W.P.A. Trained Coaches, 6, C.R.B. Checked, 4, First Aiders, 6, Boccia England Coaches and have obtained a Insport Accreditation Award.
Petanque is a bowling activity and is suitable for wheelchair users. The terrain is accessible for all disability sports groups but The Old Pavilion is not yet wheelchair accessible.
As the terrain is in a public park, there are no opening hours. If you would like to join the club please see our membership page for further details or if fancy a game with or against us, please get in touch through our Club Contacts page.
